Spencer’s Showdown now a hit in Macoupin County and beyond

Something that started out as a simple heartfelt tribute to remember a fallen son, brother and friend has already become a hit in, not just Macoupin County, but for many others around the local area and even across the country.

On July 11, a parade of towering monster trucks, worth thousands and even millions of dollars, made their way through the city of Carlinville on large unloading trailers as the community prepared for the third annual Showdown, an event organized in memory of Williams Syndrome patient Spencer Hughes, who lost his life due to complications at age 21. Although his time on Earth is through, his legacy lived on and continued to spread quicker than expected  as his family and friends put on another successful event that attracted thousands to the Macoupin County Fairgrounds for a horsepowered day of family fun, activities and fireworks.
