Celebrating a Decade on the Mother Road

This month, Mother Road Antique Mall is celebrating a milestone as the store reached its 10 year anniversary on June 2. Owners, Virginia Brown and Perry Brown, reflect on a journey that began long before the store opened.
The history of family antiquing traces back decades. Perry is the son of Virginia Brown. Virginia’s passion for antiquing began when she first got married. She would attend auctions, purchasing furniture to refinish and restore. What began as a hobby quickly turned into something more. Before long, she had accumulated more than she could keep and had to start selling some of it. Before they knew it, Virginia and her husband were traveling to flea markets all around the country. From Iowa and Ohio to Georgia and beyond, they were buying and selling antiques while getting acquainted with dealers.
