The Flame of Hope moved across Illinois on Wednesday, June 10. The Carlinville Police Department had the honor to participate in the annual Torch Run for the Special Olympics. Several officers from the Illinois State Police and other law enforcement agencies across the state ran. The journey is about dedication, unity, and inclusion, and it all led to the Illinois Special Olympics, held June 12-14 in Bloomington and Normal.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois is a major fundraising and awareness initiative that involves thousands of law enforcement officers carrying the Flame of Hope across the state to support athletes with intellectual disabilities.
