Opening Day for the Carlinville Pool honored Aiden Gunning

Monday, June 1st, was open- ing day for the Carlinville Pool, with the day being dedicated to the memory of Aiden Gunning, who was killed last Decem- ber. His parents, family, and friends were present to honor his memory. There were tears shed, laughter shared, stories told, and countless memories remembered. It was a truly phenomenal day honoring a remarkable young man who should still be here with us. Aiden enjoyed coming to the pool, and he was an avid soc- cer player. One special moment that brought smiles to so many faces was seeing everyone
Mayor Doug Downey stopped by before the opening to congratulate the crew and show his support. More than 200 people were present to help celebrate the special day. Also present were the town’s royal- ty, Miss Carlinville Kolbi Pat- ton and Junior Miss Carlinville So a Hellums, who joined in the celebration. The staff and guests were able to enjoy a spe- cial treat from the Eads Treats Shaved Ice Truck.
