The Elks Lodge number 142 in Carlinville has a long history and their members prove it.  On July 11, the Elks celebrated an accomplishment of 50 members to have 50 or more years of membership.  For the celebration, refreshments of fruit and vegetable trays, sliced deli meats and toasted ravioli along with a cake and cookies were available for who attended.  Hank Greenwalt performed for the evening entertainment.

By talking with these members, one got to experience the history of the organization through their memories.  The member with the longest years of service is Dale Giberson with 67 years.  Some of the members such as Jeff Kufa, David Steiner, Ted Walton, William Walton and a few others have been with the Elks for around 60 years.  When talking with the group, most said they joined the Elks for the social aspect.  There would be dances on Friday nights and other get-togethers.
