2024 Macoupin County Fair opens

The 2024 Macoupin County Fair officially opened Monday, June 3 during a ribbon cutting ceremony held on the fairgrounds. Fair events began on Tuesday with harness racing and followed by the Queen Pageant on Wednesday. Thursday will see Walker Montgomery and Tracy Lawrence, Friday is the Tractor Pulls and the Demolition Derby will be on Saturday.
Events at the grandstand are not the only events going on throughout the week. There will be livestock and pet shows during the day, livestock auctions and the exhibit buildings open at 4 p.m. each day.
The carnival went an extra day this year with the carnival opening on Tuesday night instead of Wednesday as it has in the past.
The Smoky Jennings Pavilion has entertainment every night and is open during the day for food and beverages.
The Fair Board put a lot of work into the fair this year, as they do every year. The bathrooms are newly remodeled and visiting the fairgrounds on Monday night, the grounds looked picturesque.
