Macoupin County Historical Society to host annual Fall Festival this weekend

The Fall Festival at the Macoupin County Historical Society is this weekend from September 20 to the 21. There are some exciting events happening. One will be able to view different demonstrations and several hands on activities. With over 60 different vendors being present there should be something that will interest everyone. There will be a variety of food served so come hungry. The menu for the Red Barn includes Kettle cooked ham and beans, chicken and noodles, chicken sandwich, hamburgers, hot dogs, and weenie waffle dog. For dessert there will be 6 different homemade pies along with fried watermelon. At the Tractor Pavilion, new this year is pulled pork nachos along with pork burgers and pulled pork sandwiches.
Building #2 was converted into a Heritage Museum. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m on September 20. The MCHS hopes to honor the family of Lindell and Jean Loveless who built the building for MCHS. The Museum will feature items from times gone by. One can experience what was used for laundry, how they used to milk cows, horse drawn items, there is a music area where they plan to show different videos and so much more. There will also be different demonstrations such as using an apple press, hand corn sheller and so much more.
