Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics (CAH&C) celebrated the grand opening of the Virden Clinic, welcoming community members and healthcare professionals to its new, permanent location at 1611 North Springfield St. in Virden. The event highlighted CAH&C’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare throughout Macoupin County.
The Virden Clinic replaces the Mobile Medical Clinic that had been serving the area since October 2023, providing a long-term solution for the evolving healthcare needs of Virden and surrounding communities. The clinic offers a full spectrum of services, including primary care, walk-in care, lab, X-ray, and therapy services—ensuring comprehensive care under one roof. In 2024, the Mobile Medical Unit served 4000 residents up to 20 people a day.
The land for the new clinic was purchased in May 2023. The construction of the new clinic was ahead of schedule and completed under budget. There are now four clinics in the Carlinville Area Hospital system. These clinics can be found in Carlinville, Gillespie, Girard and now Virden. Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics are a proud, independent Comprehensive Rural Health System.
“We are thrilled to bring a permanent healthcare facility to Virden,” said Brian Burnside, President/CEO of CAH&C. “This clinic is a testament to our mission of keeping expert care connected to the communities we serve. We are excited to provide high-quality, compassionate care in a space designed for comfort, convenience, and growth.”
Guests at the grand opening had the opportunity to tour the new facility, meet the dedicated healthcare team, and learn about the services available. Attendees also enjoyed refreshments from local Virden pizzeria, DiCarlo’s Pizza, adding a hometown touch to the celebration.
The Virden Clinic began offering walk-in care and scheduled appointments starting March 31, 2025. X-ray and therapy services are expected to be available in Summer 2025. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 217-854-3881.
