Three rising stars in the Carlinville wrestling system recently represented at the Illinois Kids’ Wrestling Foundation (IKWF) state meet.

Colt Rosentreter, Wesley Smith and Riley Smith all qualified and Rosentreter landed on the podium.

Rosentreter, who is only in sixth grade, placed seventh overall.

Rosentreter, who is a member of the Carlinville Wrestling Club, had an amazing regular season with a 24-1 record. After collecting several metro east tournament wins, Rosentreter won his regional in Edwardsville then went on to win his sectional in Belleville.

At state, Rosentreter wrestled two matches on day one. He started out with a victory but lost his second match against the eventual state champion. On day two, Rosentreter started on the consolation side of the bracket, where he won his first match and locked up a guaranteed state placement. Rosentreter lost the next match against the fourth place finisher then settled for seventh place after winning his final match in decisive fashion, 21-5.

The CWC would like to congratulate Rosentreter, the Smiths and all of the other Carlinville wrestlers on a great season.
