HS volleyball: Carlinville defeats Mt. Olive, Vandalia

Carlinville maintained its winning pace, picking up a couple of road victories at Mt. Olive and Vandalia last week.
Carlinville vs. Mt. Olive
The Cavaliers dominated the Wildcats, 25-9, 25-18, Sept. 9 behind three aces, eight kills, a block and a trio of assists from their senior captain Isabella Tiburzi.
Makenah Dugan added 13 digs and Jordyn Loveless powered the offense with 10 service points.
Charlie Bono had nine digs, Lilli Anne Readenour had six assists and Katelyn Mitchell had eight service tallies for Mt. Olive, which is 4-10 on the season.
Carlinville vs. Vandalia
After falling 15-25, 21-25, to local powerhouse Carrollton at home Sept. 10, Carlinville quickly flushed away that loss and started the South Central portion of its schedule with a 25-11, 25-23 conference win at Vandalia Sept. 12.
Loveless stayed hot with 14 service points while Tiburzi contributed 15 assists.
Hannah Gibson was a strong force at the net with 10 kills, as was Taylor Brandenburg with two blocks.
With the victory, Carlinville improved to 5-2 on the season.
Upcoming games
Carlinville continues conference play Thurs., Sept. 19 against Southwestern at the Big House on West Main.
Mt. Olive travels to East Alton Wood River Tues., Sept. 24.
