The Staunton boys basketball team won first place at the Macoupin County Tournament.

Staunton Boys Basketball

 

Staunton boys basketball won the Macoupin County Tournament last week.

 

Staunton defeated Bunker Hill 59-48 last Wednesday.

 

Staunton led 17-8 after the first quarter. Bunker Hill outscored Staunton 19-10 in the second quarter to tie the game at 27-27 at halftime. Staunton outscored Bunker Hill 13-8 in the third quarter to take a 40-35 lead. Staunton outscored Bunker Hill 19-13 in the third quarter to come away with the 11-point win.

 

Staunton defeated North Mac 51-38 in the title game.

 

Staunton and North Mac were tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter. Staunton led 22-20 at halftime. Staunton led 31-26 after three quarters.

 

Luke Moore had 21 points, three rebounds and two assists. Lucas Dillon had 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Bryce Coalson had seven points, six rebounds and a steal. Jeremiah Graham had four points, an assist and a steal. Isiah Laux had four points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Aaron Bodner had two points, five rebounds and five assists.

Staunton girls basketball won the Macoupin County Tournament last week.

 

Staunton defeated Bunker Hill 49-27 last Monday. Staunton defeated Southwestern 32-25 last Tuesday.

 

Staunton defeated Carlinville 45-28 in the title game of the county tournament last Friday. Staunton led 11-5 after a quarter, 19-10 at halftime and 31-19 after three quarters.

 

Kadyn Legendre had 14 points, Anna MacHota had 12 points, Laynie Weller had 11 points, Ryenne Dugger had three points, Kaliana Buehler had two points and Claire McCalla, Mallory Lucykow and Leah Rhodes had one point.
