Robert J. Polo

Robert J. Polo, 86, of Gillespie, died at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center, Gillespie on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 1:38 pm.

He was born February 27, 1939, in Gillespie, to Joseph Polo & Ann Jatcko Polo.

He married Judith Ann Bomkamp Polo on November 16, 1963 in Litchfield.

He was retired after having been a lifelong farmer and a steelworker in Granite City.

Robert was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved with the Farm Bureau and the Elks in Mesa, AZ.

He is survived by his spouse, Judy Polo of Gillespie; children, Kathy (Rick) Fey of Staunton, Mike (Lisa) Polo of Bunker Hill, Brad (David) Polo of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Redfern, Brittany (Mitch) Pollard, Joseph (Elisabeth) Polo; 5 great grandchildren, siblings, Kenneth (Virginia) Polo of Granite City,  and Judy J. Polo of Glen Carbon.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at SS Simon & Jude Church, Gillespie from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A funeral mass will follow at the church on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11:00 am.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie.

Memorials are suggested to SS Simon & Jude Church.
