Local Native Shane Moore inducted into American Football Association Hall of Fame
Shane Moore, a Carlinville High School graduate with deep roots in the community, has been selected for induction into the American Football Association Minor League Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2025. The ceremony will take place on Oct. 24, 2025, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Moore, also known by his given First Nations name Niso Mahihkan, has lived a life of service, achievement, and dedication. After graduating from Carlinville High School, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy, and later became a police officer, earning recognition as Officer of the Year in 2005. He went on to compete in semi-pro football, playing for the Central Illinois Cougars for more than a decade. Although he later lived in Arkansas, Moore was raised in Carlinville, Illinois.
In addition to his football career, Moore has set weightlifting records, built a successful career as a published author, and remains active in multiple community and professional pursuits.
“This honor reflects not only Shane’s athletic accomplishments but also his character, discipline, and lifelong commitment to excellence,” said his family.
