William “Bill” Arthur Johnson

William “Bill” Arthur Johnson, 95, of Hillsboro, formerly of Carlinville, passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 18, 2025, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Hillsboro.
Bill was born March 3, 1930, in S. Otter Township, a son of Elmer K. and Clara H. (Kunart) Johnson.
Bill graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1948.
He married Norma Killiam on January 7, 1951, at United Methodist Church. She later passed on Aug. 27, 2008. He then married Alice Justice on Sept. 19, 2009, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. She also proceeded him in death on Feb. 7, 2019.
Bill had many interest over the years from waterskiing to eating Dairy Queen Blizzards when he was in the nursing home. He and Norma enjoyed traveling with a group of close friends who called themselves the “Nifty Fifties.”A Cardinal baseball game could often be heard in the background as he worked in his yard. Most of all, he was a faithful Christian who truly loves his family, with or without blood lineage.
Bill farmed and was a manager at one of the facilities of the Macoupin Service Co., retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church, the Macoupin County Historical Society, the Masons, the Guy Baird American Legion Post 554, and the Macoupin County Antique Tractor Association.
Bill is survived by his son, Doug (Brenda) Johnson of Hillsboro; daughter, Marcy (Adam) Kreoger of Carlinville; daughter-in-law, Sandy Trump of Carlinville; step-sons, Randy (Linda) Logsdon of TN, Mark (Erin) Logsdon of MT; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; son, David B. Johnson; sisters; Florence Wanlass, Clara E. Johnson, Zella Rusconi, and Mary Ann Smith; brothers; James E. Johnson, Louis E. Johnson; and granddaughter, Kerri Ann Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, from 9:30 to11 a.m. at Carlinville United Methodist Church, 201 S. Broad St, Carlinville, with funeral services to follow at 11am..
Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
Memorials may be made to Carlinville United Methodist Church or Macoupin County Historical Society.
