Freddie Lee Griffiths

 

Freddie Lee Griffiths, 74, son of Robert Lee and Velma LaVerne (Broffey) Griffiths, was born September 7, 1951 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He departed this life on July 6, 2026, surrounded by family at his home in Carlinville, Illinois.

 

Freddie was raised and educated in Girard, IL where he graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1969.

 

He began his career as a journeyman meat cutter and meat department manager, working at Cherry’s Country Store in Girard and Eagle Foods in Springfield, Illinois until 1982.

 

On October 11, 1970, Freddie married Sheila Mae Conlee. They shared more than 55 years of marriage. After moving to Carlinville in 1980, Freddie pursued a career as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser, a profession he faithfully served until his passing.

 

He was a longtime member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association.

 

Freddie loved golfing and also enjoyed camping, shooting sports.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Griffiths of Carlinville; daughter, Diana Aubin (Richard) of Carlinville; son, Jeremiah Griffiths (Alison) of Carlinville; grandchildren, Aidan Drury (Kailyn) of Denham Springs, LA; Ashley Aubin of Carlinville; Owen Griffiths, Elliot Griffiths, and Violet Griffiths, all of Carlinville; great granddaughter, Tatum Elizabeth Drury; one great grandson expected in August; sister, Janice List (Ronnie) of Mason City; brother, Larry Griffiths (Debbie) of Riverton; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Velma LaVerne Griffiths, sisters, Paula Ake and Patricia Buckmiller of Seiling, OK.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at noon at Emmanuel Baptist Activity Center, 117 West 2nd South Street, Carlinville, IL 62626. Family, friends, and anyone wishing to pay their respects are welcome to attend.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
