Artists of all ages “Chalk It Up” at record-setting event

The sidewalks around the gazebo on Carlinville’s town square became an art showcase of talent on July 26. There were 104 total participants in the community Chalk It Up competition with 42 Business sponsors of which 23 submitted artwork for the Business competition. The Chalk It Up competition was set up by Imagine Rural Arts. With the registration fee, each artist received a box of chalk that they could use for their masterpiece. The season artist, ones who have done it in the past, have other colors sets that they bring with them. Some were using paint brushes and pieces of cloth to help blend the colors. Their canvas was about four feet square of sidewalk. The event had five different age groups and a category for business owners.
