Christian Eddings

Christian “Chris” Eddings, 72, of Gillespie, formerly of Troy, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Chris was born in 1952 in East St. Louis to the late Robert D. Eddings and Bonnie J (Hotz) Eddings.

He married his wife Angie Eddings, whom he met as childhood neighbors in Collinsville and they have been married for 42 years.

Chris graduated from Assumption High School in 1970.

He was always a hard and dedicated worker beginning his career as a manager of a Kmart in Belleville, before moving on to the Carpenters Union in St. Louis, MO.  He later retired after working for the City of Troy, until 2012.

Chris was graced with an amazing sense of humor and loved to camp, go antiquing, enjoy Mexican cuisine, barbecue for his friends and family, and was a lifelong St. Louis Blues fan.

He was a member of the Illinois Pottery Club.

But most of all in his later years, he loved watching his granddaughter, Ava and the Gillespie Miners play softball.

Surviving are his wife, Angela of East Gillespie; daughter, Amanda (Michael) Parish of Gillespie; son, Daniel Eddings of Troy; granddaughter, Ava Parish of Gillespie; brother, Robert (Katherine) Eddings of Washington; sister, Jennifer (late Todd) Powers of CO; mother in law, Brenda Megl of Collinsville; sister in law, Tammy Gorsuch of Collinsville; nieces, nephews, cousins and step grandchildren, Austin and Mckenzie Parish.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bonnie Eddings and brother in law, Todd Powers.
