The Carlinville School Board met Monday, Sept. 23 for a budget hearing and moved into a regular meeting afterwards.

Budget

The board approved the budget as presented during the meeting. The district has budgeted for $19,775,473 in revenue. Most of the revenue is coming from local dollars, almost $8 million from State funds and $2.3 million from Federal money. The revenue is expected to be lower this year than last year with a decrease of $2,146,208.

In operating funds only, the district expects to expend $17,152,279 and only expects to receive $16,845,373. The budget is unbalanced at this time but a deficit reduction plan is not required as the plan is within the parameters set by the State for an unbalanced budget.

Changes to the budget this year include changes in salaries and benefits, which comprise 76.7 percent of the 2025 budget due to wage increases and benefit cost increases. The district also took on several projects this year including playground updates, building maintenance and work at the bus garage.

Employment

The Carlinville School Board accepted the resignation of Alison Griffiths as the Middle School Scholastic Bowl coach and Shane Michaelis as the wrestling coach.

Other Business

The board approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Audit report as presented.

The limitation administrative cost waiver resolution was approved by the board.

High School Commencement was set for Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The next board meeting will be held Tues., Oct. 15 at the High School.
