The Nicholas Patrick Sauer Memorial Foundation, a licensed non-profit based in Troy, has donated two Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices to the Carlinville Park District.

One life-saving device will be installed at the City Pool and the other at the baseball fields in Loveless Park.

These devices will be accessible 24/7 in a climate-controlled tower, ensuring the safety of the community members who frequent these popular summer spots.

Established two years ago in memory of Nick Sauer, who passed away due to an undetected heart condition in 2019, the foundation aims to support local communities by donating these AED devices as well as other services supporting those with cardiac diseases.

Sauer’s parents, John and Lisa, raised Nick along with his siblings John and Olivia in Carlinville for much of their childhood.

As Carlinville residents for more than 11 years, the Sauers have fond memories of the countless hours that have been spent at the City Pool and Loveless Park. The family is grateful to give back to the community where many of their friends still live.

This donation was made possible by the proceeds from the foundation’s main fundraising event – the Nick Sauer Heart of the Party Golf Tournament that is held annually at the Gateway National Golf Links near St. Louis.

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Sept. 21.
