South Central All-Conference baseball roster

A large quantity of Macoupin County baseball players made this year’s South Central All-Conference roster, including six first team honorees.

Bryce Buhs and Tristen Wargo closed their careers as first team members for the Gillespie Miners. The senior duo helped lead GHS to an undefeated 2023 regular season as well as two regional titles throughout their varsity tenure.

Marcus Payne, Hunter Newell and Rocky Darr made the first team for Southwestern – this year’s SCC champion.

Mt. Olive High School sophomore Mathew Bywater landed a first team honor as the shortstop for the Litchfield Purple Panthers, who embarked on a historic journey to the Super Sectionals while setting a school record with 28 wins.

Gillespie’s Jesse Berry and North Mac’s Aiden Hatalla also made the first team.
