David Thomas Bangert

David Thomas Bangert, 83 of Carlinville, passed away on April 26, 2024 in Carlinville.

David was born in Carlinville, on Dec. 15, 1940, to James Fred and Evan Ann (Evans) Bangert.

He went to high school at Carlinville High School and graduated in 1958.

He worked as a mechanic in several neighboring towns throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and just growing anything, sitting on the porch, and fixing anything he could get his hands on with great determination.

He also had a deep sense of responsibility to his neighborhood. He was always ready to help a friend or neighbor. Whether it was mowing a yard, fixing a car, yard clean-up, snow removal, or any job where he could use his Kabota which gave him great pleasure. He enjoyed car and tractor shows and anything about building or fixing motors.

David is survived by his long time companion of 30+ years, Alice Bown; brother Daniel (Sue) Bangert of Shipman; daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Kalb of Salem, IN; step-sons; Dale (Amy) Ball of Hettick, Brad Ball of Glen Rock, WY, Russ Ball of Carlinville, Bill (Mary) Bown of Havelock, NC, Kenny Bown of Carlinville; step-daughters, Kelly (John) Clark of Palmyra, Mary (Matt) Ray and 14 grandkids and eight great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Patty Bangert.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Carlinville.
