Carlinville softball sets new school record in wins

On May 14, the Carlinville High School softball team defeated Pleasant Plains, 9-4, in the semifinals of the IHSA Class 2A Pleasant Plains regional. The Cavaliers set a new school record in wins, reaching 20 victories. After losing 11-1 against top-seeded Auburn earlier in the year, Carlinville rematched the Trojans and took them to the wire in the regional championship game May 17. The Cavaliers’ season ended with a tough 1-0 loss in eight frames. Carlinville’s final record was 20-8.
