Virginia Lehman Mueller


Virginia Lehman Mueller 65, passed away on Jan. 3, 2021 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born to Corinne and Dwight Gibson at their home in Oakland, Ca. When she was five years old, she was adopted by Helen and Carl Lehman of Santa Rosa, Ca.

In 1944 she married Cecil (Cy) George Cardiff of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They had four daughters and moved to Kensington, Ca in 1955. They divorced in 1960.

Two years later she married Albert Clinton Mueller, a chemist, and added three stepchildren to her family.

Virginia and Al loved to travel, and especially enjoyed hauling their 18-foot travel trailer to 49 states, Canada, and Mexico. They worked well together – completing many home projects and donating countless hours to their church.

Virginia enjoyed many hobbies, such as needlework and knitting, and always shared the things she made with her family and friends. She was active in PTA, Camp Fire Girls, and P.E.O. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in El Cerrito where she enjoyed being in the bell choir, counting the offering, and being a member of the HUGS group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; sister, Peg Cockroft; brother, Carl Lehman Jr; daughter, Karen Jane Alexander and her stepdaughter, Barbara Mueller.

She is survived by her sister Martha Jean Brow; children and stepchildren, Helen Cardiff, Susan Cardiff, Deany Cardiff, Joe Mueller (Heather), Betsy Mueller; grandchildren, David Alexander, Janet Catalano, Amy Garza, Erin Cardiff, Emily Springhart, 10 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 780 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530.

Virginia was cremated in 2021 and will be laid to rest in Carlinville City Cemetery. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Carlinville City Cemetery, Carlinville.
