Local author Lee LoBue held a reading of his second children’s book at the Carlinville Public Library on Jan. 27.
LoBue published his first book Sleepy Dinosaur and the Bad Case of the Bedtime Roars in 2021. His new book, Hungry Dinosaur and the Bad Case of the Tummy Growls follows the day of Dinosaur and a very serious problem, her tummy growls!
LoBue and illustrator Mathew Schelsky teamed up again to create this book, a proudly Illinois created product. The book was printed at R&R Bindery in Girard.
His second book offers some more personal touches, including illustrations of LoBue’s two daughters, students in the Carlinville School District and some of their own artwork is featured in the book.
LoBue’s daughters read from his first book Sleepy Dinosaur as a pre-show for LoBue’s reading of Hungry Dinosaur. Kids of all ages came out to the library to hear the stories, do some dinosaur crafts and have a snack to keep their own tummy rumbles at bay.
The description of the book reads, “Your favorite dinosaur is back and this time she’s hungry!
Author Lee LoBue’s second book in his dino series tackles a new problem often faced by children (and dinosaurs) … the tummy growls. Just like bedtime can be a struggle, so can remembering to eat enough to have a full tummy.
Being a dinosaur is always an adventure, but sometimes having so much fun means forgetting to eat. Join Hungry Dinosaur as she navigates her day and faces a big problem … a bad case of the tummy GROWLs! As the GROWLs worry the other kids, Hungry Dinosaur needs to find a way to fill her rumbling tummy. But what will she eat?
This colorful rhyming picture book is fun and interactive and perfect to enjoy anytime. Illustrator Mathew Schelsky returns with his colorful and vibrant style bringing the pages to life.”
Both works by LoBue are available for sale at sleepydino.com and at Main Street Florist in Carlinville. Hungry Dinosaur and Sleepy Dinosaur are also available at the Carlinville Public Library.
