Family members of Gracie Nance were at the Public Safety Building on Jan. 21 for the dedication of the Child Safety Room in Nance’s honor.

Carlinville Police Officers and members of the Gracie Foundation, setup in her honor after her passing in 2020, officially dedicated the space naming it Gracie’s Room. The room was dedicated to Gracie Ellen Rose Nance and all children affected by domestic violence in the community. A dedication plaque donated by “Awesome Ink” hangs from the wall outside the room.

Gracie’s room is a safe place for children of all ages with a variety of toys and equipment to make the environment more welcoming for children while at the station. The room was equipped and is maintained through donations from the community and the Carlinville Officers.

The Gracie Foundation presented gift cards to assist with the operation of the safety room.

The Gracie Foundation helps families and children in need. More information about The Gracie Foundation can be found on Facebook by searching for The Gracie Foundation.
