Penny S. Baldes

Penny S. Baldes, 68, of Carlinville, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 18, 2023 at her residence in Carlinville.

Penny was born on June 1, 1954 to William Leslie and Kathryn (Dixon) Elmore, Jr. in Carrollton.

Penny graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1972.

She married Don A. Baldes on April 20, 1973 in Rockbridge, at the Methodist Church.

Penny worked in the trucking industry for over forty years at companies like Lippold & Arnett, Curry’s Ice & Coal, and Passalacqua & Powell in Illinois.  Most recently in Colorado she worked for Rocky Mountain Soils, before returning to Illinois.

She loved reading and ATV riding in the mountains of Colorado.

Penny is survived by her husband, Don; son, Scott (partner, Neal Kirby) Baldes of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Margaret (Gary) Bridgewater of Rockbridge, Nancy (W.A.) Baker of Frisco, TX; one niece and two nephews.

Penny was preceded in death by parents, William Leslie Elmore, Jr., and Kathryn Elmore, and a nephew, Brett Bridgewater.

No services are planned for Penny.

Memorials are suggested to the Residential Hospice.
