Paula May Miller

Paula May Miller, 79, a proud and vibrant woman with a life full of family, fun, and fabrics, passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2024 at Shepherds Premier Senior Living in Oregon.

She was born Jan. 12, 1945 in Raymond to Elmer Paul and Alberta May Greenfield Barto.

A woman of many talents, Paula was a quilting queen. One of her greatest feats was making ten quilts in one Christmas season.

Paula loved to travel whether it was a quick trip to a casino, a jaunt to Branson, or even a hop across the pond to Ireland.

While living in Carlinville, Paula loved bingo. She was also a competitive card player, known for outwitting her friends, and after moving to Rockford, she didn’t slow down-adding local plays and dinner theaters to her growing list of passions.

Paula was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving in several leadership roles.

Paula is survived by her children, David Blazer Jr. (wife Sabrina) of Haleyville, AL, Crystal Carty (husband Chad) of Stillman Valley; grandkids, James Blazer (wife Kaylee) of Haleyville, AL, Adalynne, Alaina, Tucker, and Rezzah Carty of Stillman Valley; special sister-in-law, Sue Ann Barto of Carlinville; nieces and nephews who lovingly knew her as “Toots.”

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Alberta; brothers, Roger, William and Joseph.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church Activity Center Chapel on Oct. 26, 2024, at 11 a.m., officiated by Reverend Cliff Woodman.

In lieu of flowers, Paula would prefer you do something fun: play a game of cards, drop in for a game of bingo, or maybe make a quilt for someone special.
