Linda Kay Motley

Linda Kay Motley, 80, of Hettick passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, following a courageous battle with a brief illness.
Linda was born on April 22, 1946, in Carrollton to Thomas and Elizabeth (Knisley) Ballard.
She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1964 and married Gary Motley on June 20, 1965. Together they built a life and family and shared nearly 61 years together, celebrating 60 years of marriage.
Linda spent most of her career in the banking industry, where she became known for her reliability, dedication, and the relationships she built with customers and coworkers over the years. She worked as a teller at Palmyra Bank, Town & Country Bank, Chesterfield State Bank, and most recently continued working full-time at Peoples Bank & Trust in Palmyra, Illinois.
She was also a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite team through every season.
Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Motley; son, Bryan (Jackie) Motley of Palmyra; daughter, Tracy (Dan) Koster of Carlinville and grandsons, Lucas (Kaitlyn) Motley of Granite City, Blake Motley of Hettick, Ryan Koster, George Koster, both of Carlinville; brothers, Larry Joe Ballard and Kirby (Peggy) Ballard both of Carrollton; her sister, Eva (Lewis) McClenning of White Hall; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Ballard; son, Barry Motley; brother, Donald Ballard and sister-in-law, Bonnie Ballard.
A funeral service were held on Tuesday, June 23, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. The visitation was on Monday, June 22, at the funeral home. Burial was at the Hettick City Cemetery.
