The Macoupin County Historical Society (MCHS) in Carlinville celebrated 50 years of festivals over the weekend. They held their Spring Festival Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24. This festival is free to attend and is a great place for a family to experience items from the past. There were items that one does not see everyday and with several different demonstrations, one could learn how different items were made and built instead of buying the item from a store. Every year there is a display of old tractors followed by a parade of the tractors in the afternoon. Around 50 vendors were present selling mostly homemade items including candles, kitchenware, yard ornaments, and other products. The Carlinville Queens were also set up selling patriotic drinks. Visiting the kettle corn tent is always a fan favorite.
