Harold Ramey

 

Harold Ramey, 76 of Dallas, GA, formerly from Carlinville, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at his residence in Dallas, GA.

 

Harold was born March 21, 1949, in Champaign-Urbana, IL, the son of Ollen and Marianna (Huff) Ramey.

 

Harold graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1967. He graduated from Ranken Technical College in 1969.

 

Harold married Eberle Tostberg on September 27, 1969, they divorced in 1984. He married Darlene Marquardt in February 1985, they divorced in 1990. He married his current wife Christina Dempsey Doyle in November 1990.

 

Harold was employed as an Engineer for Western Electric (which became AT&T Technologies, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia), retiring after 31 years. After retirement he worked at Sam’s Club and Home Depot.

 

His hobbies included building/flying radio-controlled airplanes and tinkering with computers.

 

Harold is survived by his wife Chris of Dallas, GA; daughter Rebekah (Edward) Kallbrier of Carlinville; sons, William (Kelly) Ramey of Foley, MO, Benjamin (Starlette) Ramey of Puxico, MO; three stepchildren, nine grandchildren, one great, grandchild; brother, James (Janell) Ramey of Carlinville; sisters, Sharon (Irvin) Sanders of Hillsboro, IL, Linda Ramey of Fenton, MO; brother Keith Ramey of Evergreen Park, IL; many nieces and nephews.

 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Danielle; son Sean-Paul; brother, Robert; sister, Elizabeth Ambrose; brother-in-law, Mark Ambrose, a niece, and a nephew.

 

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville, IL. The service will start at 2 p.m. with visitation after the service until 5 p.m.
