Verna Marie Brown

 

Verna Marie Brown, of Chesterfield, passed, and got to spend her 80th birthday in heaven with her Lord, on June 11, 2025.

She was born on June 11, 1945, in Litchfield, the daughter of the late Stanley Otto and Irene Elizabeth (Kunz) Davis.

Verna eloped when she was 16 and married Dwight Maurice Brown on Sept. 21, 1961, in Hernado, MS. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2016.

She retired from the USPS as a rural carrier from the Chesterfield Post Office.

Verna was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Palmyra.

She enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.

Verna is survived by her son, Gary (Joan) Brown of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Lucas (Jamie) Brown, Katie Bormida, Jaime Bormida, Courtney Bormida, Brian (Amy) Deist, Brad (Megan) Deist, and Dan (Alli) Deist; twenty two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers, John Davis, Wayne (Donna) Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Irene; husband, Dwight; son, Alan Brown; brothers, Russell Davis, James Davis, and Jerry Davis

Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

The family will be hosting a memorial service at 10 am on Saturday, July, 19, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church in Palmyra.

A private family inurnment will take place at Keller Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist Childrens home or Chesterfield Community Club.
