Joyce Ann Hunt

 

Joyce Ann Hunt, 82, of Palmyra, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2025 at her home with her husband holding her hand.

She was born Nov. 4, 1942 in Palmyra, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lucille Ella (Weller) Thursby.

She married Donald Glenn Hunt on Sept. 24, 1961.

Joyce was a 1960 graduate of Palmyra High School.

In her early years, she volunteered as a 4-H leader and Cub Scout den mother. She cared a lot about staying active in the community. She helped the family farm by running tractors and hauling grain and taking meals to the fields. Also, during that time, worked for P+M Elevator and Smoky Jennings Chevrolet.

Joyce was very active in her church Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, having served as the organist for several years.
She was a key volunteer with the Macoupin Baptist Association, spending countless hours organizing Senior Adult Ministries meetings.

She and Don were members at the Prairie Land Dance Club. They both enjoyed taking vacations and traveling together.

She is survived by her husband Donald; sons, Steve Hunt (Gala) of Palmyra, Richard Hunt (Amy) of Palmyra, Kevin Hunt (Peggy) of West Palm, Fl.; grandchildren, Garrett Hunt (Lindsey), Logan Hunt, Isabella Hunt; brother, Howard Thursby; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra.  Visitation was held on Friday, April 11 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Palmyra American Legion or Baptist Children’s Home & Family Services and sent to Stults-Neece Chapel, 349 Tanner, Waverly, IL 62692.
