John C. Pocklington

 

John Curtis Pocklington, 68, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, 10:40 a.m. at his residence in Butler.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1956 to Evan H. and Helen M. (Marko) Pocklington

John graduated from Hillsboro High School and from the University of Illinois, majoring in Agriculture.

He was a farmer and lived his entire life in Butler.

John was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Blue Grass Drainage District Board, 4-H Board, Farm Bureau and the Knights of Columbus.

He loved farming, tractor pulls, airplanes and anything space related.

John married Brenda Durbin on December 27, 1986 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield.

He is survived by his daughter, Megan (husband, Briar) Smith of Coffeen; son, John Pocklington of Butler; brothers and sisters, Terrence (wife, Pamela) Pocklington of Arizona; Mary Ann (husband, Kenneth) Stolley of Decatur and brother-in-law, John Richter.

He was proceeded in death by a sister, Sharon Richter.

Memorials may be made to Hillsboro FFA or 4-H Foundation

Services were held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church officiating

Burial was at the Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler.
