Amy Michele Arnett

 

Amy Michele “Mik” Arnett, 73, of Carlinville, passed away Saturday Dec. 7, 2024 at her home.

She was born on April 27, 1951, in Litchfield, a daughter of John and Joie Russell.

She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1969.

She went on to attend Millikin University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree.

She later retired from the West Central Regional Planning Commission.

She enjoyed golf and traveling to Arizona, Florida and the Jack’s Fork River in Missouri with family and friends.

Her hobbies included playing cards, enjoying the Aqua Pool, and spending time at the Carlinville VFW and the Carlinville Elks Lodge. She enjoyed cooking and brought meals to the Elks Lodge on a regular basis as well.

She was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching her sports on TV.  She also loved dogs and had them as pets throughout the years.

Mik is survived by her two sons, John Jason (Virginia “Gini” Walden) Dilley of Bradenton, Florida, John Paul Jones Arnett of Carlinville; and grandson, Russell “Rusty” Walden Dilley of Bradenton, Florida; sister, Mary (Genta) Schmitt and brother-in-law Chris of Carlinville; brother, J.C. Russell and sister-in-law Josephine of Surry, NH; brother, Peter Genta and sister-in-law Charlene of Carlinville; sister, Sarah (Russell) Oswald of Carlinville; sister Cindy (Genta) Strehlow of Urbana; brother, J.P. Genta of Redondo Beach, CA; many nieces and nephews.

Mik is preceded in death by her parents, John and Joie Russell and long-time partner, John Gunning.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, 2 to 4 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville.

The family invites friends to the Russell House for a Celebration of Life following the visitation.
