Ida Mae Leach

 

Ida Mae Leach, 88, of Carlinville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at her residence in Carlinville.

Ida Mae was born Jan. 26, 1936, in South Otter Township, the daughter of Robert Lee and Mabel Ella (Pratt) Quarton.

Ida Mae graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1954.

She married Donald Earl Leach, on Nov. 14, 1954, in South Otter Township.

She and Don loved traveling throughout the US. Even after Don passed away, Ida Mae continued to travel frequently to visit her kids.

Ida Mae also had a love for baseball, watching and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.

She emphasized the acronym J.O.Y. Jesus first, others second and then yourself. She was an inspiring Christian woman, being an active member of Charity Baptist Church for over 60 years where she was a deacon’s wife, WMU leader and a prayer chain chairman. Spreading her love for Jesus was her top priority that she was able to continue throughout her life.

She worked for ASCS and Rathgeb Brothers. She was also a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant and a farm wife.

Ida Mae is survived by her sons, David Earl Leach of Shaker Heights, OH, Darrell Eugene (Sandra) Leach of Lake City, FL, daughters, Deann Marie (Glenn) LaTerre of Smyrna, TN, Leann Mae (David) Barr of Carlinville; grandson, Andrew David (Stephanie) Leach; granddaughters, Michelle Ann (Michael) Mattingly, Amanda Troi (Jacob) Schien, Adriann Leigh (Chandler) Seago, Emily Christine (Devon) Passalacqua, Sophie Marie LaTerre; great grandson, Griffin Covert Leach, Beau Allen Seago, great granddaughters, Julia Mae Leach, Ryleigh Mae Schien; sister, Geneva Carolyn (Jim) Frankford; brother, Robert Keith (Valerie) Quarton; sister-in-law, Beverly Morehead Leach; brother-in-law, Alvis Frankford; step grandchildren, Aleah Joann Owens, Jennifer Elaine Fernandez, Lyric Elaine Dickerson, Savannah Rae Dickerson, Sarah Lynn Dickerson, Olivia Elaine Dickerson, Willow Drew Tillman, Ophelia Juniper Fernandez, Amanda Kaye Biss,Tyler Michael Biss, Wyatt Colby Biss and Rylan Christian Biss.

Ida Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Earl Leach; brother, Donald Lee Quarton; sisters, Mabel LaVerl Hilyard, Olyta Maxine Hazelwood and Myrtle Lucille Harding.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, 4 to 7 p.m. at Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville.

Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery, Carlinville.
