James Vernon Davis

James Vernon Davis, 97, of Litchfield, passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Springfield, on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at 9:05 p.m.

He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Overland, MO to Robert and Ora Mae Davis.

He had various jobs in his adult career including working at Prairie Glove in Carlinville and the City of Doniphan, MO.

James was affiliated with Cornerstone Ministries in Litchfield.

He enjoyed walking, swimming, reading the Bible, helping others in the time of need.

He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Randy) Miller of Taylorville, Ruth Childers of Carlinville; sons, Daniel, Roy and Jim Davis all of Carlinville; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Thelma Crider of Wellsville, MO and former wife, Carolyn Mills Bogue of Carlinville.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin Davis, Robert Davis, Virgil Davis, Dave Davis and great-granddaughter, Alexis Miller.

Services were held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial was at Carlinville City Cemetery, Carlinville.

Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Ministries.
