Douglas Michael Perry

 

Douglas Michael Perry passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.

He was born Aug. 8, 1955 in Jacksonville, the son of, Warren and Ruby (Huson) Perry.

He married Joanna Fischer on Nov. 12, 1982.

Doug served twenty-three years in the United States Army in both active duty and the National Guard and retired as a Master Sergeant. He also served the State of Illinois as a corrections officer for twenty-two years and retired a Sergeant.

Doug had a life-long love of learning and was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to new and exciting places. He lived a wondrous and adventurous life through his service to his country and a love of history, visiting historic places across the world.

He was a big sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and his hometown football team the Carlinville Cavaliers.

He is survived by his wife Joanna of 41 years; sons, Jarad (fiancée Margiory) and Shawn; sisters, Kathy (Don) Dugger, Marylin Boatman; sister-in-law, Sun Perry

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lynn Perry and sister, Karen Perry.

Visitation will be on Jan. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Memorial Christian Church, Carlinville and funeral will follow with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.

Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family with arrangements.
