Matt Leach

 

Matt Leach, 49 of Chesterfield, passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2023.

Matt was born Jan. 2, 1974, in Jacksonville, a son of James  “J.R.” and Donna (Hammann) Leach.

Matt graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1992. He received an Associates Degree from Lewis and Clark College an went on to Tulsa Welding School.

He married Beth Anne Gonnella August 12, 2003, in Branson, MO.

Matt was a member of the Boilermakers Local 363.

He was an avid hunter and was fiercely loyal to his friends and family.

One of his most treasured accomplishments is the time he spent as a coach for the Carlinville Claybusters, watching his son excel in the sport he loves; and he never stopped reliving those memories and the moments when the team brought home the championship trophies in Skeet and Sporting Clays.

Matt is survived by his spouse, Beth Anne Leach of Chesterfield; mother, Donna (Keith) Chism of Chesterfield; son, Ty Leach of Chesterfield; sister, Missy Leach of Chesterfield; niece, Lauren (Jake) Marsaglia; nephew, Trevor (Grace) Clardy; uncle, Ed (Beth) Hammann of Carlinville; aunt, Patti (Tom) Hill of Carlinville; aunt, Kim (Bob) Bremer of Carlinville; Jackson, Laney, and Sawyer, great niece; many other cousins and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his father, James “J.R.” Leach, and his grandparents, Roy and Theda Leach, and Don and Irma Lee Hammann.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, from at Cross Church, Carlinville.

Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Cross Church, Carlinville.

Burial will be a private family gathering only.

Memorials may be made to Carlinville Clay Busters Trap Shooting Team (sporting clays and skeet program).
