David Allen Zimmerman

 

David Allen Zimmerman, 54, of Bunker Hill, passed away at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 12:35 p.m.

He was born Jan. 31, 1969, in Alton, to Duane Zimmerman and Joan Burt Zimmerman.

He married Stephanie Lahey on June 17, 1989 in Fosterburg.

He was an electrician where he completed warehouse maintenance.   He was a member and shop steward of Local 649 IBEW.

David was a member of the Bunker Hill Volunteer Fire Department Association.

He was an avid hunter of boars and white tail bucks.  He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling and was a jack of all trades.

He is survived by his parents, Duane and Susan Zimmerman of Brighton; spouse, Stephanie Zimmerman of Bunker Hill; children, Jake (Leah) Zimmerman of Jerseyville, Tiffany (Andrew) McCurdy of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Mason McCurdy, Lincoln Zimmerman, Huxley McCurdy, Charlotte “Charli” Zimmerman, Baby McCurdy who he was expecting; sister, Vickie (Marv) Miller of Houston, TX; brother, Brian (Lee Ann) Biggs of Fosterburg; sister, Amy (Ben) Richey of Medora and special Aunt, Dee Burner Burt.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Burt Zimmerman; mother in law, Judith “Nana” Lahey Otto; brother in law, Timothy Byron Lahey; nephew, Samuel Biggs; uncle, Chuck Burt; best friends, Matthew Card, Kenneth “Kenny” Ziegler and special friend, Jared James O’Dell.

Services were held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill.

Memorials are suggested to Headstrong Countryboy David Zimmerman Fund.  This fund will support awareness for FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia), PPA (Primary Progressive Aphasia) and FTD/ALS (Motor Neuron Disease).  The motto is I’m not the only one willin’ to fight find help share hope.
