Norma J. Hammann

 

Norma J. Hammann, 98 of Carlinville, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 2023, at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville.

Norma was born March 5, 1924, in Carlinville, a daughter of William F. and Edna Lawrence Culp.

Norma graduated from Carlinville High School in 1941.  She married Carl E. Hammann Nov. 14, 1943 in Carlinville.

When Norma was young, she began working at the Hoelting Orchard and later in life at Broom’s Orchard.  When she married, she began baking and decorating wedding cakes. Norma made the most beautiful and delicious cakes for all occasions.  Norma enjoyed being a homemaker and farm wife.  She loved to garden and cook for her family, as well as quilt, embroider, crochet and knit.

Norma was the oldest member of her church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.  She was a Sunday School Teacher along with being very active with other activities in her church.

Norma is survived by her son, Glenn (Wanda) Hammann of Carlinville; sons, Robert (Sherlyn) Hammann of Carlinville, Gary (Darlene) Hammann of Peyton, CO, Kevin (Julie) Hammann of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Linda Hammann of Carlinville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brothers, William Culp of Loveland, CO, and Glen Culp of Albion, MI.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kenny Hammann and sister Helen Miller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ from 4 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted, Thursday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at the church with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating.

Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
