Berniece Harper

 

Berniece Harper, 99, passed away on Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 4, 1923 to Neela (Travis) Triplett and Roy Triplett in Stoddard County, MO.

She married John “Jay” Harper on Dec. 10, 1940 in Bloomfield, MO.  They were happily married for 64 years.

Berniece was a kind and talented chef and seamstress.  She had a strong faith in the Lord and loved her family deeply.

She and her husband built and operated The Spring Air Café and Motel in Raymond for many years. Their success was evident with their business; there was always a constant demand for her pies.

She was a member of Carlinville First Church.

She is survived by her children William (Karen) Harper of Carlinville, Barbara (John) Charnisky of Edwardsville; seven grandchildren,  Renee (Frazier) Sheedy, Dana (Frazier) Niehaus, Lisa (Charnisky) Strader, Krista (Charnisky) Capron, Michael Charnisky, Jennifer (Harper) Vespa, and Rachel (Harper) Bouillon and 13 great grandchildren.

Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, John Harper; daughter, Bonnie Frazier of Carlinvilleand son-in-law Charlie Frazier.

Services were held, Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, with Rev. Stephen Schmidt officiating.

Burial was in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.

Memorials may directed to Carlinville Food Pantry, Shriner’s Hospital or Carlinville First Church.
