Erik J. Harms

 

Erik J. Harms, 42 of Nilwood passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 16, 2022 at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1980 in Springfield son of Jeff and Rhonda (Smith) Harms.

Erik had attended St. Isidore Grade School in Farmersville and Sacred Heart Griffin High School, where he played football.

He enjoyed mechanics and was very talented with his mechanical abilities. He loved working on his trucks and four wheelers, hunting, being outdoors, music and watching movies.

He took pride in the fact that he was his paternal grandfather’s personal caregiver during his grandfather’s last few years of life. Erik was a kind, gentle and loving man.

Erik is survived by his parents, Jeff and Rhonda Harms of Carlinville; sister Deidre (Jerome, Jr.) Rogers of O’Fallon; nieces and nephews Arianna, Aaliyah, Jerome III and Christian Rogers; maternal grandmother, Flo Smith; aunts and uncles Keith (Gale) Harms, Karen (Bob) Osmoe, Marsha (Steve) Wright, Randy Smith and Rodney (Melissa) Smith and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Kathleen Harms and his maternal grandfather G.W. Smith.

Memorial services celebrating Erik’s life will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Marty Nagel officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested and may be made to NAMI (National Alliance for Mentally Ill) and will be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Girard.
