Rebecca Jane Guthrie

 

Rebecca “Becky” Jane Guthrie, 71, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at home with her loving family by her side.

Becky was born on Oct. 24, 1951, in Jacksonville, to Robert and Marjorie (Neff) Lonergan.

Becky was raised in Girard and on June 5, 1971, she married Glenn “Bill” Guthrie Jr.

Becky was passionate about helping others. She worked for St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield as a Home Health Caregiver and a phlebotomist. She continued this passion by volunteering as an EMT with the Shipman Fire Department while raising her children.

Becky loved music, especially the band Fleetwood Mac and was a collector of antiques. She was known for her compassionate spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill; their children, Carrie Guthrie (John) of Alton; Mark Guthrie (JoAnn) of Brighton; grandchildren, Deja and Jeda Robinson and Addison, Elliott, and Ray Guthrie; Becky’s caregiver Amy Schultz provided exceptional care for the last seven years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s; her brother, Tim Lonergan; nieces and nephews Libby Conroy, Jeremiah Jacobs, Ryan Lonergan, and Lindy Lonergan.

Becky was preceded in death by her father, Robert; mother, Marjorie; step-father Lawrence Prose and sister, Sharon Jacobs.

Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard with Chaplain Mary Ann Lawrance officiating.

Becky will be honored in a celebration of life in the spring for family and friends. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
