Mary Katherine Bridges

 

Mary Katherine “Kate” Bridges, 98 of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2022, at Heritage Health Care, Carlinville.

Kate was born Jan. 27, 1924, daughter of Martin and Martha (Reid) Edwards in Beardstown.

She married Clarence William Knight and he passed away Dec. 15, 1965 and later married Russell Bridges who died July 21, 1985.

Kate was known for her smile and friendly demeanor.  She worked at Schwartz Furniture for 30 years keeping things clean and tidy. Kate also kept house for several families in Carlinville area. She loved her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church and always kept her yard pristine.

Kate is survived by her daughter, Marilouise (James) Indelicato of Bunker Hill; son, Ray (Kay) Knight of Carlinville; grandchildren, Rusty White, Randy White, Jimmy Knight and Kelly Adair; great grandchildren; Sgt. Hunter White, Sarah White, Gage White, Nick White, Taylor White, Justin Knight, John Adair, Helen Adair; two great great grandchildren Beau and Rip White.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, 10 to 11 a.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at the funeral home in Carlinville. Rev. Cliff Woodman will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
