Richard Wendt, Jr.
Richard Wendt, Jr., 56 of Virden passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born Aug. 7, 1966 in Beaufort, South Carolina, son of Richard and Barbara (Kuhar), Sr.
He married Renee Garrison and she survives his passing.
Richard was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden, the Moose and the Knights of Columbus.
He graduated from Virden High School, CAVC where he received a certificate for Welding, Lincoln Land Community College earning an Associates Degree and Judson University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Youth Counseling. He had served as a Youth Counselor a Mooseheart for numerous years and had coached his kids’ sports.
He loved baseball, golf and fishing.
Richard is survived by his sons Tyler Wendt and Chase Wendt, both of Carlinville; daughter Ashlee (Darion) West of Mt. Olive; mother Barbara of Virden; twin brother Deacon Ed (Lori) Wendt of Cochrane, WI; nephew Ed (Becca) Wendt of Burnsville, MN and niece Marta Wendt of Georgetown, KY to whom he was Godfather; two great nephews; three uncles; numerous aunts, cousins and Godchildren Haley and Reece Brinker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Wendt, Sr.; grandparents, Harry and Victoria Wendt, Frank and Jennie Kuhar and Uncle Eddie Kuhar.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden with his brother Deacon Ed Wendt officiating. Burial will follow at Virden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden.
