Norma Jean Chasco

 

Norma Jean Chasco, 91, of Palmyra, formerly of Chatham, passed away Monday afternoon,  Sept. 26, 2022 at her residence in Palmyra.

Norma Jean was born on Oct. 22, 1930 to Montie and Mable (Scott) Claybourn in Springfield.  On Jan. 25, 1950 she married Edward Chasco  in Lincoln. They later divorced.

As a child Norma Jean grew up at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Lincoln.  She graduated from Lincoln High School.

She retired in 1985 as a clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Norma Jean was a member of the Modesto Christian Church.

She spent much of her free time studying and collecting her family’s genealogy, and was very proud of her family’s history.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Norma Jean.

Norma is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle (Chris) Eades of Palmyra; grandson, Lee (Moranda) Chasco of VA; caregiver and special friend, Amy Ball of Hettick; several nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Montie and Mable Claybourn; son, Michael Chasco; daughter, Susan Chasco; great-grandson, Remington Eades and three brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Benld Adopt-A-Pet.

Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
