Jessie Marie Dixon

 

Jessie Marie Dixon, 81, of Bunker Hill, passed away at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, MO on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at 2:30 p.m.

She was born Oct. 28, 1940, in Granite City, to Jesse Singleton and Evelyn Ely Singleton.

She married Walter R. Dixon on Jan. 12, 1957 in Batchtown.  He preceded her in death on March 30, 2022. They were married 65 years.

She worked several years at Bills IGA and the Ben Franklin store in Bunker Hill where she would share her love of sewing with the customers, she was an accomplished seamstress.

Jessie was a member of TOPS for many years, where she met many new friends to share her story and listen to theirs.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bunker Hill for 46 years, where she worshiped her God and listened to His word.

She had a love for flowers and many flowers adorned her yard and lake.  She was, as someone once said, a sparkling gem. Jessie was a collector of beautiful dolls.  She had a best friend named Sampson, she adored him the little Shih Tzu, love of her life.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Barbara) Dixon, of Hudson, FL, Susan Dixon of Bunker Hill, Carey (Mary) Dixon of Fredericktown, MO, Sarah (Rolland) Meffert of Shipman, Amy Miles of Brighton; grandchildren, Ian, Reanna, Joshua, Brooke, Jonathan, Robert, Justin, Jessica, Jodie, Joel, Jayme, Jesse, Joseph, Lane, Valerie, Keith, Thomas, Samantha, Wesley; 34 great grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Robert) Behme of Holiday Shores, Janice (Larry) Card of Dorsey; sister in law, Virginia Singleton of Moro; many nieces and nephews and her dog, Sampson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Molly, brother, Wayne Singleton; sisters in law, Lois Woelfel and her husband Steve Woelfel, Wanda Tepen and her husband, Vince Tepen and mother in law and father in law, Ogal and Leon Dixon.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022 at First Congregational Church, Bunker Hill. Burial was at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill.
