Norman Carl Viehweg

Norman Carl Viehweg, 95, passed away at Heritage Health in Gillespie, on Thursday, March 24.

Norman, born on Nov. 15, 1926, was the first-born child of Carl and Clara Viehweg.

He attended Mt. Olive School, and then went to work for his father who owned and operated Sunshine Dairy. He was later employed as a custodian by Hano Corporation in Mt. Olive. While there, he earned the nickname “Ram-rod.” He retired from Hano after working 26 years.

Norman also enjoyed mowing lawns. He was contracted by the city of Mt. Olive to mow the city park. He took great pride in keeping the park looking its best. Norman’s real passion was detailing cars. He enjoyed this so much that he entered his own car in car shows and won several trophies. Norman also belonged to a CB Club and his call number was KHD5826 which was his license plate number.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive.

Norman is survived by his nephews, Michael (Marilyn) Viehweg and Edward (Debbie) Viehweg both of Mt Olive, and John Viehweg of Hawaii; a niece, Cathy (Vincent) Johnston of St. Paul, Minnesota; nine great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Otto and great nephews, Adam and Jacob.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, from 9-11 a.m. with the service officiated by Pastor James Ritter.

Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive.

Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Following the graveside service, friends are invited to return to Immanuel Lutheran Church Educational Building for lunch.

Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Cemetery.
